Traditional VS Digital Marketing – Which is Better? The answer is easy, traditional marketing and advertising techniques are what has always been used and proven to drive traffic to websites. It is time consuming, takes more effort, and still does not guarantee your marketing success. With digital marketing you can be a part of the action immediately. You can build relationships, and you can make money.

What is the difference between traditional marketing and digital marketing?

There are many differences. Many times when we think about traditional marketing, we think about print or broadcast advertising, or maybe even door to door flyers. All these forms of marketing have been effective for years, but they have also been very expensive. Most businesses would rather spend their money on online marketing methods. Let’s look at some online marketing methods that work very well:

PPC (Pay per Click) – PPC is one of the oldest forms of marketing. In order to be successful with it, you must target the right audience. It used to be that businesses used pay per click advertising, but now people search for information before searching for products, and they also click on links that are in their feed readers, which means that you can drive traffic from people who already want to find out more.

SMO (Social Media) – Social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ are all new forms of online marketing methods that are used to reach target audiences. These are great because they give you a chance to interact with your target audience. And interacting is what marketing is all about. You set out to find people who want what you have to offer. Then you introduce yourself, tell them how your product or service can solve their problem, and then you present them with a sales pitch.

Whichever method you choose, it’s important to brand yourself as a professional.

This is where traditional marketing methods fail you. Because they focus solely on the message, and not the person delivering the message. But social media allows you to brand yourself as a real person with personal profiles and allows you to actually connect with your target audience. They even recognize that some of these accounts are automated, so when using this platform they become more human and you actually have a chance to make a connection with someone that wants what you have to offer.

So which of the two is better?

In short, traditional marketing methods generally work. They just don’t work as well as social media. There are some exceptions to that rule like if you have a very unique product or service. But overall, the social media pages are the safer way to go. With less chance of people clicking on spam advertisements or clicking on someone else’s ad just to get to your page.

Traditional marketing is still important, but use social media marketing to build your brand and connect with your target audience. It’s easy, it’s effective, and it has a chance at becoming viral. It can even become the cause of your brand being known, which is awesome. And the best part is that it can still be tracked and measured through various statistics.

But there’s something to be said about being ‘in fashion’. I personally love both new methods of reaching the market, because it allows me to evolve with my business and my target audience. If you follow my advice, then you’ll never miss out on any new ideas and methods that can be implemented into your campaigns. Use social media pages for your ultimate success.
