Advertising is a branch of marketing communication whereby the business creates openly sponsored media. The exclusive goal is to sell products or services. In other words, the promotion of services is obvious to the market. The consumer can clearly understand the objective of an advertisement. Advertising employs a wide variety of media. It is a non-personal form of selling in as much as it is not an expression of personal feeling and attitude of the creator. But rather, an original, objective and a unique approach to the item or a concept being advertised. It’s not directed towards the needs or mind of a particular individual. Rather, it aims to grab the attention of as many as possible. The individuals who become interested in the advertisement form a circle of the potential customers. They may potentially purchase the product or the service.
There are many forms of advertising including those that use various types of visuals, sounds, verbal ques and such. Mostly a single advertisement is the mix of all of those things to be as appealing as possible. The advertisement can be communicated through mass media including TV, social media platforms, radio, on and offline press, billboards, direct mail, text messages ect.
The main two types of ads include commercial and non-commercial advertisements. Mot businesses use commercial ads, while political parties or charity organizations may seek to use non-commercial ads. In any case an ad is used to persuade an individual and make them think the way the creators of the ads want them to think.
